WinSIS-X was created by Detlef Mehlmann, the owner of BSI UNTERNEHMENSBERATUNG GMBH in Germany. He did quite a bit of research on German Shepherd dogs and had one of the most extensive GSD libraries in the world. He started by including all the foundation GSD's and then adding dogs from Regional and National German Events to the database. The database remains Event driven, and dogs are only added yearly who have competed in National and Regional events, plus their parents and usually enough dogs to fill out a 3 generation pedigree.

It is excellent for building pedigrees and contains many Kör (breed survey) reports in German. It also is very good for titles, color, DOB, ZW, and hip ratings and is excellent for figuring out linebreeding. You can also simulate breedings between a specific male and a female and produce a pedigree for the puppies complete with linebreeding.

It has a section for breeding records, and contains the name of the breeding partner and the date of the breeding. It has a small remarks section.

The BIG advantage of WinSIS-X, is that its' relational database is in MS Access, and with a little knowledge of MS Access, you can create any type of report that you want. As far as I know, none of the other pedigree programs have this flexibility.

Basically you get the database which contains over 156,000 GSD's. Over 3500 National and Regional European Events (mainly from Germany, though there are some from Austria, Belgium, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Holland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Mexico, Norway, Pakistan, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland) and North American National Events (USA, DVG, AWDF, GSDCA, and Canadian).

You can:
1. Add dogs and events and their associated information to the database.
2. Trade (export/import) dogs or events with other people who own WinSIS-X.
3. Print a 5 generation pedigree.
4. Print a bloodline tracing the dogs back to the first GSD's through either the sire or dam lines.
5. Print individual pages of dogs with all their statistics and picture (if you have one).
6. Print a record of the events in which a particular dog participated.
7. Purchase a Photo CD of over 10,000 GSD's. They are integrated into the program and when you pull up an individual dog, the picture is automatically displayed.
You can also include videos of dogs, which can be pulled up from the dogs record. 8. Purchase yearly updates for the database and the photo CD.

I have used the program since 1997. Look at my pedigree website gsdpedigree.com It will give you some idea of what the program can do and the format of the printed pages.
